Don’t delay to hit the first deadline for Year 10 applications
Students and their parents are being urged to act quickly before the first deadline for applications to join Ron Dearing UTC in Year 10 in September.
The employer-led school is once again heavily over-subscribed for its next intake, with 278 external applications to date for a total of 150 external places available for new students in Years 10 and 12 for the 2019/20 academic year (Ron Dearing UTC Year 11 students get priority for places in Year 12).
Students and parents who feel the UTC is the right option for them are now being reminded that this Thursday, January 31, is the cut-off point for applications for the first places in Year 10 (aged 14), which will be offered before March 31.
Applications can still be made after January 31, but earlier applications will be considered first.
Students wishing to apply for Year 12 places can continue to apply right up until the end of August.
The exceptionally high level of applications comes after around 1,500 students and parents attended a series of three open events held at the school in Kingston Square, Hull city centre.
Principal Sarah Pashley said: “With such strong demand for places it’s important students and parents are aware the first cut-off point for applications for Year 10 is just a couple of days away.
“We want to get the message out that they will have to apply by Thursday to have a realistic chance of joining us in Year 10 in September.”
