CARE, GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT

Ensuring our students are safe, happy and able to learn effectively is our highest priority

The best comment that Ofsted Inspectors made when they inspected RDUTC in March 2020 was that all the students they spoke to said that our staff really care about them and go the extra mile to ensure they are happy, safe and successful.

We have a highly dedicated and experienced Student Support team comprising the following staff:

  • A Vice Principal
  • A Senior Assistant Principal for Safeguarding, Health and Wellbeing
  • An Assistant Principal – Professionalism
  • An Assistant Principal – Cultural Capital
  • A Head of Key Stage 4
  • Two Joint Heads of Sixth Form
  • Four Pastoral Mentors
  • A SENDCo & an Assistant SENDCo
  • Teaching Assistants
  • A First Aid Manager
  • A School Nurse
  • Counsellors
  • An Independent Careers Adviser

Our Student Support team works extremely closely with our Teaching Team to ensure every student feels that they are a valued member of the RDUTC community.  The teams meet weekly to monitor every student’s progress and put in place rapid and effective intervention to remove any barriers to learning. This joined up approach is one of the reasons why our exam results, our student destinations and student attendance are consistently well-above the national average.
