Safeguarding

Safeguarding

At Ron Dearing UTC, the safety, wellbeing and welfare of our students are our highest priorities. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every student can learn, thrive and achieve their full potential.

We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students in our care and recognise our responsibility to protect them from harm. The welfare of the child is paramount, and all decisions and actions taken by the UTC are guided by what is in the best interests of the child.

We aim to ensure that:

  • Appropriate action is taken promptly to safeguard and promote the welfare of all students.
  • All staff understand and fulfil their statutory safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Staff receive regular safeguarding training to enable them to identify, respond to and report concerns effectively.

Safeguarding & Child Protection Policies

It should be noted that the Safeguarding policy does not stand alone but is written in conjunction with a number of other school policies/documents.

Working Together to Keep Children Safe

We work closely with parents, carers, and external partners to provide early help and coordinated support when needed.  For example:

    • Humberside Police (including Operation Encompass)
    • EHASH
    • ERSCP

We also follow the annual statutory guidance set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education.
